As expected, the New Orleans Saints don’t appear to be headed to Canton this summer to compete in the annual Hall of Fame.
Per NOLA.com’s Jeff Duncan, the Saints will not play in the annual game, which is usually scheduled between two teams with connections to that year’s Hall of Fame Inductees.
There’s no bigger name in this year’s class than former Saints quarterback Drew Brees. However, New Orleans won’t be making the trip to Canton, OH this year.
While New Orleans may not be competing in the games it’s more than certain that members of the organization close to Brees and relevant to his incredible career in the Crescent City will still be present for his enshrinement.
As Duncan notes, the Saints will have a busy offseason and preseason relative to travel. Adding an additional Canton game may have simply been untenable.
During NFL Combine week, sources confirmed with LouisianaSports.net that the team’s participation was “at the very least uncertain.”
The NFL is expected to announce the Hall of Fame Game participants soon.
