The New Orleans Saints are coming off of a hot streak in the first phase of free agency and are continuing their look ahead to the NFL Draft. The team has already had a few meetings and Top 30 visits with prospects over the last week and another was conducted with an underrated cornerback on Wednesday, the opening day of NFL free agency.
Per Packer Report writer Easton Butler, the Saints were among a trio of teams to meet with San Diego State University (SDSU) cornerback Bryce Phillips after his pro day workout.
Phillips, listed at 6-foot and 195 pounds, is a physical perimeter corner that carried just a 5% missed tackle rate and allowed just 44.9% of his targets to be caught with only 29 yards surrendered after the catch in 2025, per Pro Football Focus.
During his pro day, he ran a 4.56 40-yard dash and charted a 37.5-inch vertical leap.
The Saints appear to be a team primed to be in the cornerback market going into the draft. Phillips is expected to be a Day 3 selection or potential priority free agent following the draft. His physical playstyle and reliable tackling ability are likely to keep him on the Saints’ radar throughout the draft process.
In 2025, Phillips wrangled 34 total tackles, one interception, a tackle for a loss and a forced fumble. He had four tackles for a loss in 2024.
