The wide receiver visits continue to roll in for the New Orleans Saints ahead of this year’s NFL Draft. The team is now expected to host seven reporter wideouts on top-30 visitors this offseason.
Per NFL Insider Ian Rapoport, the Saints are expected to host Indiana wide receiver and national champion Omar Cooper Jr.
Rapoport also shared that Georgia State wideout Ted Hurst’s visit, which was previously reported, will also take place this weekend.
Cooper is an electrifying wideout that reeled in a whopping 13 touchdown receptions last year while operating across from fellow Indiana receiver Elijah Sarratt, who had an additional 15. It can be hard to contribute consistently across from a receiver that dominates targets the way Sarratt did, but Cooper didn’t miss a beat.
Cooper’s 4.42 40-yard dash 37-inch vertical leap showed off his athleticism at this year’s NFL Scouting Combine. At 6-foot and 199 pounds, he may not be the big-bodied X-receiver some may desire for New Orleans, but he is a physical, athletic wideout that does not shy away from contact or jump-ball opportunities with breakaway speed with the ball secured.
The Indiana wideout posted 69 receptions for 937 receiving yards and 13 touchdown receptions last year. He also added a rushing touchdown.
