Flau’jae Johnson drafted No. 8 by Golden State, traded to Seattle

Flau’jae Johnson’s next chapter will be in the Seattle.

The former Tiger was drafted No. 8 overall by the Golden State Valkyries during Monday’s WNBA Draft, but the Seattle Storm traded for Johnson minutes later.

Johnson leaves LSU as the sixth Tiger to score 2,000 points. She’s second all-time in starts, (139) played in 17 NCAA Tournament games and was a member of the 2023 National Championship team.

She was the SEC’s Freshman of the Year in 2023 and was twice named first team All-SEC. As a sophomore, Johnson made the second team.

Kim Mulkey has now produced seven WNBA Draft picks in here five seasons at LSU. Angel Reese and Aneesah Morrow were drafted No. 7 overall in back-to-back seasons. Johnson slots right behind them at No. 8.
