All’s quiet on the western front. Apparently the western front is code for Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
It’s day nine of the transfer portal being open, and LSU has yet to land a commitment. Here’s our latest update from the college basketball transfer portal.
By the Numbers
For the first time in almost a week there were more players that entered the portal than committed somewhere.
Tuesday saw 23 players enter the portal, bringing the number of entrants on the men’s side to 1100. There were only 18 players that committed to schools bringing the total to 188. The disparity has been wild to watch as just 17.1 percent of players that have entered the portal have found a new home.
To put that in perspective, football was around 50 percent after a week of the portal being opened.
Keeping it in the family
I cannot remember a time in any transfer portal window that the SEC has been silent for this long. One big piece however, did make some news on Tuesday.
Former Georgia PG Jeremiah Wilkinson announced his new destination and committed to John Calipari and Arkansas. Wilkinson is the son of former Atlanta Hawks and Georgia Bulldog legend Dominique Wilkinson. He was Georgia’s leading scorer at 17.4 ppg.

Missouri gets some help in the front court
A day after signing Jaylen Carey from Tennessee, Missouri got some more good news thanks to Carey.
Spearheaded by Carey and Missouri coach Dennis Gates, the recruitment of Jamier Jones from Providence came to an end. It ended with him signing with the Tigers. Carey is a big piece from one of the premiere SEC schools, and head coach Dennis Gates was ecstatic about his addition.
Jones, though, is the star of the group. The rising sophomore is the top ranked small forward in the portal and the No. 31 ranked player overall giving Missouri one of the best classes in the SEC.
