Now that the post-June 1 dead cap deferments are available to teams around the NFL, some big moves have already been pulled off. Cleveland Browns edge rusher Myles Garrett was traded to the Los Angeles Rams. Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver A.J. Brown is now with the New England Patriots.
While the New Orleans Saints don’t have a ton of post-June 1 maneuverability, it does get the question: are there positions to which the Saints could still look to add talent?
There appear to be three groups that the team could still look to add competition. One of which, being one of the game’s most important.
Edge Rusher
The Saints still have not seen edge rusher Cameron Jordan re-signed. While the additions of Tyree Wilson and Anfernee Jennings add some intrigue to the room, the question of production beyond Chase Young and Carl Granderson remains.
Signing Jordan, who has a contract offer already from the team, or trading for veteran talent like the Arizona Cardinals pass rusher Josh Sweat or New York Giants EDGE Kayvon Thibodeaux would help to solidify confidence in the group immediately.
Running Back
If the Saints and Alvin Kamara don’t move forward into 2026, the team could look to pursue another veteran rotational piece for the group.
Kamara’s agent, Brad Cicala, told NFL Network that the plan is to play for the Saints next year. Which would be a wise move for New Orleans. But should anything change that, the position’s young talent could use another veteran presence from a limited market.
With A.J. Brown and Myles Garrett traded, Alvin Kamara and Brandon Aiyuk move into the spotlight for potential post-June 1 moves.

Center
While there’s a lot to like about offensive lineman Torricelli Simpkins III getting a first crack at the backup center role, if a veteran with starting experience were to be available via trade, making a move might pay off.
That’s what the Saints did last year during the preseason. Landing center Luke Fortner in a trade with the Jacksonville Jaguars ended up being one of the team’s most important moves of the season. If another veteran with a healthy amount of experience were to be available, the Saints should consider a pursuit.
