Early 53-man Saints roster projection: Wide Receivers

The New Orleans Saints’ wide receiver room should be one of the most tightly contested throughout the team’s 2026 training camp practices.

While the top of the position is set, the battle to fill out the rest of the room includes promising veterans, exciting drafted rookies and a wildcard undrafted player looking to make his mark beyond his father’s professional wrestling legacy.

Our projection also takes into account special teams contributions being that receivers rostered deep into their rooms are often primary contributors to the kick and punt return and coverage teams.

Wide Receivers – 6 (16)

Olave, Tyson and Vele could all be among the easiest players to predict across the roster. The trio is expected to serve as the team’s go-to pass-catching group going into 2026. Meanwhile, their run blocking efforts or prowess make them valuable in the rushing attack as well.

Brown earns his spot via special teams as a returner, allowing the team to keep one more wideout than usual. He can also continue to develop into a valuable deep threat over time.

Previously roster wideouts such as Mason Tipton and Bub Means have been managing injuries to start offseason practices. Without getting a look at them during that window, they become more challenging to project.

Ronnie Bell, Kevin Austin Jr. and Trey Palmer are among the most competitive names to watch, so far. Even if they don’t earn a spot on the active roster, they would all be wise decisions for the practice squad, though there may only be room for two of them, depending on how many wideouts the Saints hope to roster there.

Finally, and far from the least intriguing, undrafted wideout Brock Rechsteiner is a very interesting player to watch once camp rolls around. The 6-foot-2, 200-plus pound receiver has some impressive skills that he was able to showcase more during his rookie minicamp tryout than other weeks in front of the media. But as he continues to settle in, earning at least a practice squad spot is well within reality.
