Tiger target Yam Madar to stay in Europe

LSU’s top point guard target is not coming overseas.

Yam Madar has agreed to terms with Maccabi Tel Aviv and will play for the Israeli club as opposed to enrolling at LSU. The 25-year-old may have dealt with NCAA eligibility issues had he come to the US.

Madar is an elite athlete with explosive ability off the bounce and a streaky shooting hand. He would have very likely been LSU’s primary ball handler had he enrolled and become eligible.

LSU landed Michigan State transfer Divine Ugochukwu and UTSA’s Austin Nunez who both have point guard experience stateside. Neither is quite the prospect that Madar appears to be. Madar was taken by the Cleveland Cavaliers in the second round of the 2020 NBA Draft.

Wade will continue to comb Europe for another lead guard as the summer continues. Madar’s decision very likely frees up some money to recruit. Back in May, Wade said he was targeting the start of school in August to have his roster finalized.
