One of the longest running concerns and question marks around the New Orleans Saints has finally reached its conclusion.
Per Nick Underhill and Terron Armstead via NewOrleans.Football and The Set as well as Mike Garafolo of NFL Network, the Saints and running back Alvin Kamara have finalized a new contract for the star player to return to New Orleans for the 2026 season.
The specific terms of the deal have not yet been announced, but Kamara is now in position to finish his career in New Orleans, as has been his goal.
Kamara will be partnering with running back Travis Etienne Jr., giving the Saints a promising one-two punch at the position.
Earlier this offseason, Kamara made it clear that he and Etienne would be a strong fit together.
“He hits home runs,” Kamara told Armstead on The Set. “He did it in college, I’m excited to see what we can do together.”
When Kamara attended Saints’ Organized Team Activities in June, it proved that his actions follow the desires he’d shared throughout the offseason to remain in New Orleans.
The two biggest curiosities now remaining are what the new contract will look like and what his role in New Orleans will be. Throughout minicamp, it was abundantly clear that Etienne was being viewed as the top back in the running back room. This is an arrangement that Kamara appeared to be very comfortable embracing.
Those answers will come in time, but the months-long debate around whether or not Kamara would be with the team in 2026 is now over. The Saints and Kamara are now set to embark on their next season together, and the running back is now in position to finish his career in the Big Easy.
