As the New Orleans Saints and wide receiver Chris Olave continue to discuss his long-awaited contract extension, concerns have begun to arise about whether or not the talented receiver may look to “hold in” at the start of training camp.
However, per NewOrleans.Football’s Nick Underhill, that won’t be the case.
Veterans players in the midst of active contract negotiations will sometimes arrive for training camp, but not participate fully so as to not risk injury while talks continue to develop.
It’s a sensible approach. One injury and the entire landscape of the negotiation changes.
But for Olave, who was present through the majority of offseason practices, it appears he’ll be on the field early in camp even if the deal isn’t done.
Should the conversations extend for a longer while, there is always a chance that this changes. But for now, Olave is expected to be out on the field with his new-look wide receiver room.
Olave’s pairing and chemistry with rookie wideout Jordyn Tyson has drawn a lot of excitement. Now, it sounds like fans won’t have to wait long to see them in action together.
