Former LSU All-America pitcher Kade Anderson’s ready for ‘The Show.’
More than a year after he was Major League Baseball’s third overall pick by the Seattle Mariners, Anderson will be called by the parent club where the left-hander has been dazzling with Double-A Arkansas.
ESPN’s Jess Passon reported Thursday that Anderson, 22, will make his Major League debut Saturday against the Chicago Cubs.
Anderson extended his current streak of scoreless innings to five-plus weeks during his most recent start last Friday against Tulsa. He worked 5.2 innings, threw 53 of 79 pitches for strikes and maintained a spotless stretch that dates to July 3, the last time he allowed a run.
The Mandeville native and graduate of St. Paul’s High is Seattle’s top prospect, and MLB’s No. 5 overall player, and has been named the Texas League’s Pitcher of the Week five times. He also represented the Mariners in the Futures’ All-Star Game.
Anderson has been the league’s top pitcher with a 10-1 record, 1.06 ERA and 135 strikeouts. He has walked just 13 batters, allowed 47 hits in 93.1 innings and held opponents to a .147 batting average.
He has allowed just four runs in his last 11 appearances dating to May 22 and has held opponents scoreless in 13 of his 18 starts.
LSU’s eighth national championship in 2025 had Anderson’s fingerprints all over it.
The consensus All-American selected by five different national media organizations was 12-1 with a 3.18 ERA in 19 starts. He struck out 180 batters in 119 innings, walked 35 and had an opponents’ batting average of .211.
The Tigers (53-15) defeated Coastal Carolina in the first game of the best-of-three College World Series championship series, 1-0, behind Anderson’s complete-game effort, allowing three hits and five walks with 10 strikeouts. They capped the series with a 5-3 victory behind pitcher Anthony Eyanson.
Anderson earned CWS Most Outstanding Player honors after going 2-0 with a 0.56 ERA and 17 strikeouts in 16 innings. Baseball America’s national pitcher of the year led the SEC in wins and strikeouts and was sixth in ERA and seventh in opponents’ batting average.
