With the NFL’s bonus week wrapping up and Week 1 preparations under way, the New Orleans Saints are likely to still be in the market for potential investments.
Here are three positions where additions or roster shuffling could make sense.
Cornerbacks
The Saints recently added corner Decamerion Richardson, a talented and athletic defender who should help to raise the floor of the position. But the Saints are always looking for more cornerbacks and defensive backs.
The Saints have only one cornerback on their practice squad, rookie. TJ Hall Jr. With the recent release of corner Cobee Bryant by the rival Atlanta Falcons, the Saints could be an intriguing next stop.
Running Back
The Saints are navigating some injuries at running back with only one active roster back currently healthy in Travis Etienne Jr. Addressing the position here may not have much to do with new acquisitions but instead utilizing the talent on the practice squad.
Running back Zamir White showed promise in the preseason and could be a back the team turns to early in the season depending on the health at the position.
Wide Receiver
Similarly, wide receiver has seen additions, but the team is still only carrying four on the active roster.
The recent addition of Cedric Tillman reuniting with Kevin Austin Jr. on the practice squad could soon lead to one of the team’s four wideouts being added to the active roster eventually in the event a spot becomes available.
