One of the positions on the New Orleans Saints’ 2026 roster that’s seen the most turnover is the edge rusher room.
While the top talents Chase Young, Carl Granderson and Cameron Jordan are still in line to lead the way, the offseason additions of veteran Anfernee Jennings and former No. 7 overall selection Tyree Wilson have helped to reshape the depth of the group and raise its floor.
This group of five will also see contributions from a longtime player of Defensive Coordinator Brandon Staley’s, Chris Rumph II. Now listed as an off-ball linebacker, Rumph will likely continue to contribute in certain situations as a pass rusher.
This group will be key to helping the Saints surpass 50 sacks for the first time since the 2019 season.
There’s youth, veteran experience, proven production and unlocked potential across the bevy of talented players.
Wilson, in particular, may be one of the most intriguing. Acquired via a draft-day trade by New Orleans from the Las Vegas Raiders, Wilson was a highly-drafted player out of Texas Tech in 2023.
While his talents never panned out in Las Vegas, a change of scenery could work out for him in the Big Easy, where the Saints showed that they wanted him by sending one of their 2026 NFL Draft picks to the Raiders.
Now, Wilson is in a system that will benefit from his length and high motor. At the same time, he gets a chance to contribute to a team that sought him out and sent a key draft asset to bring him to its roster.
Whether contributing to the pass rush or the run game, Wilson, Jennings and a second year for Rumph will each help to raise the floor of potential for the edge rusher group in New Orleans.
