After an injury-riddled offseason, New Orleans Saints head coach Kellen Moore delivered some positive news about the team’s health coming out of its 31-30 heartbreaking loss Sunday against the Detroit Lions.
“(The team) came out of the game pretty clean,” Moore said. “Obviously, plenty of bumps and bruises, things that guys will have some maintenance with the week.”
A few players including linebacker Isaiah Stalbird, rookie defensive lineman Christen Miller and wide receiver Chris Olave, were all checked with various ailments throughout the game. But as expected it doesn’t appear the Saints will be navigating anything serious.
That’s a positive development for New Orleans, who may look to return a few players from injury next week.
Veterans running back Alvin Kamara and edge rusher Cameron Jordan both missed Week 1 with injury along with rookie tight end Oscar Delp. The possibility of them getting back to the field looks to be trending in the right direction for Week 2.
“Guys that were not available, Cam, Alvin, Delp all progressing well,” said Moore. “So we’ll see how their week progresses.”
For Kamara and Jordan, that suggests a chance to return for the game against the Baltimore Ravens, for Delp, a chance to get back to the practice field at the least.
The team also helped bolster its depth with the return of defensive lineman Jonah Williams to its practice squad. Williams is a versatile defensive lineman with experience in the Saints’ defensive system, seeing 319 defensive snaps and 193 special teams snaps in 2025.
