The New Orleans Saints and Cleveland Browns have released their final injury reports ahead of Sunday’s game at Caesar’s Superdome. While the Browns didn’t rule out their starting quarterback, they have made the decision to turn elsewhere. Meanwhile, the Saints look like they are on track to get at least one big name back to the offense.
Here is the information from Thursday’s Browns at Saints practice report.
New Orleans Saints
Out
- RB C.J. Donaldson (shoulder, concussion)
Questionable
- T Kelvin Banks (ankle)
- CB Martin Emerson (shin)
- T Asim Richards (thumb)
- WR Jordyn Tyson (hamstring)
No Game Designation (Good to Go)
- RB Alvin Kamara (back)
- RG Cesar Ruiz (knee)
- DT Davon Godchaux (NIR-resting player)
With Donaldson ruled out, that likely means that the run game will come down to the rushing trio of Alvin Kamara, Kendre Miller and Audric Estime. Sources tell LouisianaSports.Net that there has been a concerted effort to make adjustments in the run game going into this week with the hopes of getting the ground game on track.
All eyes will be on Banks and Tyson, with optimism particularly directed at Tyson, to take the field after long absences. The Saints do have a little bit of a conundrum at left tackle with both Banks and Richards questionable. If neither is able to start or play, the team would then turn to Mason Murphy, who was added via waivers at roster cuts.
Tyson has continued to look very promising throughout the week, He’s moved very well, looked smooth and has been very involved with individual drills (the media does not see team drills during practice). If he doesn’t end up making his debut this weekend, it sure feels like next weekend against the Carolina Panthers far from out of the question.
Cleveland Browns
Out
- DT Maliek Collins (elbow)
Questionable
- QB Deshaun Watson (concussion)
No Game Designation (Good to Go)
- T Austin Barber (calf)
- WR Denzel Boston (calf)
- TE Harold Fannin (groin)
- S Emmanuel McNeil-Warren (hip)
- LB Carson Schwesinger (wrist, ankle)
- LB Quincy Williams (hamstring)
- CB Myles Harden (hamstring)
- C Elgton Jenkins (knee)
- DE Jared Verse (knee)
With Collins out, the Browns take on a major hit to a very impactful defensive interior. Meanwhile, Watson’s questionable tag means he could potentially clear concussion protocol in time for the game. However, the Browns have already named second-year quarterback Shedeur Sanders the starter for this week.
Fannin, the team’s top pass-catcher, appears ready to go despite his midweek downgrade with a groin injury.
