Even though the New Orleans Saints haven’t had the start to the season anyone expected, coming out of the bye week at 2-5, the NFC South division has them set for a course they can still turn their season around.
New Orleans is only one game back from the first-place Carolina Panthers for the division’s lead. The Saints could end up tied for the top of the division with a win on Sunday against the Cleveland Downs and some help from some top NFL competitors.
As the Saints take on the Browns at home, their division-mates will be facing some premiere competition.
The Panthers (3-4) face the Denver Broncos (6-2), the Atlanta Falcons (3-5) will take on the surging Cincinnati Bengals (5-2) and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (3-5) will compete against the Chicago Bears (5-2), fresh off of a big win last week.
Should the Saints win, and the rest of the division loses, the Saints and Panthers will be tied at the top of the NFC South.
With the Saints and Panthers having not played against one another yet, those division records would be the deciding factor, which favors the Panthers at 1-1 against the Saints’ 0-1 NFC South record.
Then, In Week 10 in New Orleans, the Saints and Panthers, tied at 3-5, would face one another for the top of the division.
The Saints need a lot of help. But by the way the rest of the NFC South has played this year has allowed them to hope alive, looking to not only right the ship, but turn it around after a rough start to the season.
