Saints clear Werner for Monday Night game with Falcons

NEW ORLEANS – The New Orleans Saints have announced their inactive players ahead of their Monday Night Football game against the Atlanta Falcons.

The highlight being that linebacker Pete Werner is cleared to go after not practicing all week with a shoulder injury.

Here are the Saints’ inactives for Week 4:

Without Granderson and Jennings, the Saints will lean on veteran Cameron Jordan and draft-day trade acquisition Tyree Wilson at edge rusher to help complement the already stellar play of star defensive end Chase Young.

To help provide depth at the position, the Saints have elevated second-year edge rusher Fadil Diggs as well.

Without Elliss, a lot of responsibility will shift toward second-year linebacker Danny Stutsman, whom the Saints have a lot of confidence in. Meanwhile, fellow off-all ‘backers Chris Rumph II and Isaiah Stalbird will likely be in rotation to aid depending on the game situation.

The position gets a boost with Wenrer being active, which is a win for the Saints’ defense. He’s played very well to start this season. He’ll be a key player to watch throughout.

Without Fant, rookie tight end Oscar Delp may be in for his largest role yet in his first year.

Miller being inactive is a bit of a surprise in a game where defending the run and limiting Falcons running back Bijan Robinson will be imperative. The Saints will have John Ridgeway III active this week on the interior. He’ll provide some disruptive versatility that can perhaps make up for loss of Miller’s potential at the position.
