It’s time once again for our weekly SEC picks. The picks went 5-2 last week, and we learned the hard way once again that it’s never a smart move to believe in SouthCarolina. This week’s games feature one of the biggest showdowns of the year, a couple of potential upsets, and bad weather all over. The record on the year is 50-9. Here’s to another crack at an undefeated week.

LSU at Kentucky
LSU not winning in Lexington in 24 years being a talking point prior to this game is as factual as it is unimportant. The Tigers are 0-2. Let’s calm down a bit. This game is interesting for a number of reasons. It’s the first road test for LSU since their loss at Ole Miss. It’s also a matchup of familiar faces for the coordinators. The questions for me in this game are how well LSU’s back seven can defend Kentucky’s tight ends in the passing game, as three of the top five pass catchers for the Wildcats are from that position group. Also, can quarterback Sam Leavitt’s accuracy continue to show improvement despite the turnovers. Leavitt completed 76% of his passes in LSU’s last two games.

Texas vs Oklahoma
The total in this game is only 39.5. Honestly, the way these two defenses have played against how bad each offense has looked at times this season, it might still be too high. Oklahoma needs to utilize John Mateer’s legs. And, I barely mean by running the football. It might actually be time to see if he’d be more accurate throwing the ball with his feet than his hands. To be fair, the same can be said for Arch at times too.
Texas 23, Oklahoma 13
Georgia at Alabama
These two fanbases are so toxic that even a literal hurricane doesn’t want to be around them once it’s time for kickoff. That’s right. We got some good news on the weather front for this Saturday’s game. In dryer conditions in Bryant-Denny Stadium, it feels like Alabama has the edge. This will be the toughest test they’ve faced all year. However, for Georgia it will be its first test they’ve faced at all. Georgia is really good. Their roster is better from top to bottom. And, quarterback Gunner Stockton is the most underrated player in the country.
Cool. They can’t hang with Alabama’s offense for 60 minutes. Right now, I’m not sure if anyone can.
