Saturday is here, and here’s everything you need to know for another big slate of games across the SEC.
Kamario Taylor Doubtful
The worst kept secret in college football this week was in Starkville. Star QB Kamario Taylor was downgraded to doubtful on Friday evening, and according to ESPN’s Pete Thamel he is not expected to play. The sportsbooks across the country tried to tell everyone pretty early in the week that this was a possibility, as the line for the game opened at -11.5 and jumped up to -14.5 almost immediately.
Walk-on Parker Billy Puckett will most likely start in his place.
Tramell Jones next man up
Friday brought some other quarterback news as well. Florida starter Aaron Philo was limited in practice all week, and it was revealed on Friday that backup Tramell Jones is in line to make his first career start for Florida in their road trip to Austin to take on Texas.
Outside the footprint
It took half the season, but we finally got a few top-ranked matchups in other conferences around the country. There’s a top-five matchup in Bloomington where Ohio State is a -3.5 point favorite over the defending national champions, Indiana. And, if you were wondering why the SEC’s night slate is horrible, blame religion. Literally.
The night game on ABC will feature a top ten game between Notre Dame and BYU. It’s the first ever top ten game on campus in BYU history.
