INGLEWOOD, Calif. – There’s been yet another injury on the New Orleans Saints’ offensive line during the team’s preseason matchup against the Los Angeles Chargers.
Starting left guard Trevor Penning was reportedly carted off the field during the second quarter of the exhibition matchup. This came after the team lost offensive lineman Will Clapp to an injury earlier in the contest. Clapp was also carted off of the field.
Per WWL Radio sideline report Jeff Nowak, Penning had both shoes off while being carted away from the playing area. He appeared to be walking fine prior.
Trevor Penning heads back to the locker room on a cart, but he was walking fine. Both shoes were off. That’ll be one to watch. #Saints

Sometimes carts are used in a precautionary manner for even minor injuries. The Saints will certainly be hoping that is the case for Penning as the depth on the offensive line has struggled mightily throughout this game as a whole.
New Orleans will have to eventually rely on its protection depth at some point, but sooner is not better by the looks of it.
