METAIRIE, La. – The New Orleans were back outdoors for practice on Thursday and were back on the regular season practice schedule with a 20-minute viewing window for the present media.
We saw the stretch and individual drill periods, but no team reps or gameplan work for the day. It again appeared that quarterback Spencer Rattler was first in the position’s rotation, however it’s wise to assume that both he and rookie Tyler Shough worked with the first team throughout practice as head coach Kellen Moore has continued to do since late in the West Coast stretch of practices.
Players Not Spotted During The Open Media Window
- Cornerback Alontae Taylor (groin)
- TE Taysom Hill (PUP)
- WR Donovan Peoples-Jones
- S Terrell Burgess
- LG Trevor Penning (toe)
- RT Taliese Fuaga
- TE Foster Moreau (PUP)
Defensive tackle John Ridgeway III was again walking laps around the field during practice while managing his pectoral injury.
It’s important to note that players are sometimes not seen during the open media viewing window but are indeed participating. Updates will come soon from Moore and his post-practice press conference.
One player will need to be cut to make room for the recent acquisition of wide receiver Devaughn Vele. If the Saints made that decision at the same position, it seems that Peoples-Jones is the speculative odd man out. But the news of who was indeed released will become official soon.
Vele was not yet participating in practice.
