Pro Football Focus has released its grades for the New Orleans Saints’ loss to the Denver Broncos. Per the analytics and data site, the Saints’ defense dominated both the highest and lowest graded performances from Saturday.
Top 5
- CB Isaac Yiadom – 86.0
- CB Quincy Riley and DT Vernon Broughton – 83.6
- OL Kyle Hergel – 82.4
- TE Jack Stoll – 80.8
- S Ugo Amadi – 78.9
Yiadom landed one of the highest grades of any Saints player this preseason because he only allowed one catch for five yards during his limited defensive reps. He also notched a stop in the run game and three tackles without registering a miss.
Rookie cornerback Quincy Riley impressed, grabbing an interception off of a tip drill late in the game. He did so while the Saints were still down just one score. His contributions led opposing passers to register a 16.7 passer rating when targeting him. Throwing a pass in the dirt every play in a game would get a quarterback a 39.6 rating.
Broughton was crested with five pressures including two hits on the quarterback in his best showing so far as a pro and Amadi generated a pair of pressures throughout his opportunities as a blitzer while also forcing two incompletions on the day.
Bottom 5
- QB Jake Haener and TE Juwan Johnson – 42.5
- WR Cedrick Wilson Jr. – 42.4
- DT Khristian Boyd – 40.7
- DE Chris Rumph II – 39.5
- LB Jaylan Ford – 31.5
Boyd only rushed the passer six times according to the site’s charting, however he totaled two pressures including a sack. He also registers no missed tackles throughout the game, yet ends up with one of the lowest grades.
Ford took a hit for being credited with surrendering a 23-yard reception and totaling just two tackles. He did add a special teams tackle as well.
Wilson was knocked for a pretty egregious drop on a crosser from rookie quarterback Tyler Shough in scoring distance. He otherwise added just two catches for eight receiving yards on the day.
