The New Orleans Saints went an unconventional path with their quarterback room. Instead of opting for veteran passers, new head coach Kellen Moore and his staff decided to lean in on what the team has needed over its last few years: youth.

Saints Leaning On Coaching Staff Experience
Combined, the Saints have no wins in their quarterback room and only a combined seven starts. But that doesn’t bother the team, who have several former NFL quarterbacks on staff.
- Head coach Kellen Moore: 2012-2017
- Offensive coordinator Doug Nussmeier: 1994-1999
- Quarterbacks coach Scott Tolzien: 2011-2017
While the Saints may have shown interest in a few veteran passers, the team was more than happy to move forward with the mentors on the active roster. Not to mention that, despite being on the Physically Unable to Perform list, offensive weapon Taysom Hill (who boasts a 7-2 quarterback record) is still in the building.
Rattler will go into his second year, this time as the Week 1 starter, Shough enters his rookie year and Haener is beginning his third. The Saints may have one of the youngest and therefore least experienced groups at the position across the league, but the leadership on the coaching staff is being trusted to properly prepare, gameplan and develop its young signal callers.
