NEW ORLEANS, La. – The New Orleans Saints have begun their Week 2 roster adjustments with many moves expected to be on the way.
Monday afternoon, the Saints waived rookie defensive end Fadil Diggs, who saw seven snaps in the team’s Week 1 game against the Arizona Cardinals. His being moved from the roster is a positive indication for the health of starting edge rusher Chase Young, who missed the season opener with a calf injury sustained in practice.
With the open roster spot on the active roster, tight end Jack Stoll was signed from the practice squad per NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

Stoll may have been on the practice squad to start the season, but there was no doubt that he would be the team’s No. 2 tight end on gameday. That proved true Sunday against the Cardinals where he saw 18 snaps on offense as opposed to rookie tight end Moliki Matavao who saw just one.
Stoll joins Matavao and Juwan Johsnon, last week’s receiving yards and receptions leader, at the position on the roster.
More shuffling is expected beyond this move.
Stoll’s signing opens a practice squad slot that Diggs could likely be signed to occupy, as he started the season among that group.
Additionally, with safety Julian Blackmon possibly out for the season, he will eventually be moved to Injured Reserve, at which time another active roster spot will become open.
Blackmon’s spot could be filled by signing safety Terrell Burgess from the practice roster. At which time another player, perhaps quarterback Jake Haener, could be brought back as well.
