
LAKE CHARLES – McNeese and Northern Arizona have agreed to a home-and-home football series to be played in 2028 and 2029.
McNeese will host Northern Arizona on Sept. 16, 2028 then will make a return trip to Flagstaff for an Aug. 25, 2029 meeting in the Walkup Skydome.
“I’m excited about this home-and-home series with Northern Arizona,” said McNeese Vice President and Director of Athletics Heath Schroyer. “NAU is a great FCS opponent and a member of the Big Sky Conference. Being able to add a sixth home game has been a priority for us.
“Flagstaff will also be a great trip and experience for donors, which is always something we take into account when scheduling games.”
The Cowboys and Lumberjacks have played just once before, that coming in the first round of the 2003 I-AA playoffs with NSU upset No. 1 McNeese, 35-3.
Beginning in 2026, the Southland Conference schedule will include nine games, up from the eight currently being played.
