College GameDay returned to Eugene for the second time this year to preview the top-15 matchup between Oregon and USC.
Lane Kiffin catches shade from Rece Davis
One of the more peculiar things that’s happened with the Lane Kiffin saga is his inability to just say, “No. I’m staying here.”
At every turn, he’s done the opposite. During the broadcast, Dan Lanning was asked about not being linked to other jobs around the country. His response: “The grass is damn green” where he is now.
Oregon fans went wild, but the real moment came as the camera pulled away and Rece Davis muttered, “What he said… some people find that so difficult to say.” Indeed they do, Rece.

Nick Saban, the voice of reason
The chaos that could ensue if Lane Kiffin leaves an 11-1 team is something already being discussed around social media. If he leaves for another job, that could cost the team a spot in the Playoff or, at the very least, drop them and cause them to miss out on hosting a Playoff game.
Saban spoke up about how that negatively impacts the players who are the main pieces that are supposed to be protected by the NCAA.
“This is not a Lane Kiffin conundrum. It’s a college football conundrum,” said Saban about the mounting scheduling and calendar issues that face the sport.
If there was ever a sign that we need to break free from the NCAA and make Nick Saban the commissioner of college football, this is it

Missouri Cross Country with the sportsmanship of the year
This was briefly mentioned and probably not given enough love. Missouri is this year’s host school for the men’s and women’s cross country national championships. Texas A&M’s squad traveled on Thursday to the meet, but heir bags never made it.
In stepped Missouri with the sportsmanship moment of the year, giving their conference rivals all new gear. Just with a different logo and school.
