It seems the end of the Lane Kiffin saga is nearing.
Ross Dellenger of Yahoo! is reporting that LSU’s search committee spoke with Kiffin’s representation following LSU’s loss at Oklahoma. The university reportedly has multiple planes to be sent to Oxford to pick up the Kiffin family and bring them to Baton Rouge on Sunday.
That news caps a day of drama that included a nearly four-hour meeting between Kiffin, Ole Miss Athletic Director Keith Carter and Chancellor Glen Boyce at the chancellor’s house. Initially the meeting was set for the morning but was pushed back multiple times to 3:00. Just before 7:00pm, Kiffin and Carter left the house.
As a result of Alabama’s win over Auburn, Ole Miss will not appear in the SEC Championship Game next week. Kiffin expressed interest in coaching that game should Ole Miss have qualified.
Yahoo! reported a week ago that LSU had a 7-year, $90-plus million offer to Kiffin. Sunday could bring resolution to three weeks of indecision.
