Minutes after reports surfaced that Arkansas was set to hire Ryan Silverfield, Auburn’s vacancy closed.
Ross Dellenger from Yahoo! is reporting Auburn will hire Alex Golesh from South Florida as its next head coach. Golesh had been linked to the Arkansas opening. Instead, he’s headed to The Plains.

Golesh led the Bulls for three seasons and went 23-15. This year was his best as the Bulls posted a 9-3 record with a convincing September win over Florida. He does have SEC experience having worked as Tennessee’s offensive coordinator and tight ends coach from 2021 to 2022.
Auburn fired Hugh Freeze in November in the midst of what became a 5-7 season.
