Van Buren began his career at Mississippi State where he started eight games as a true freshman in 2024.
LSU will have to rebuild its quarterback room via the transfer portal. Cincinnati quarterback Brendan Sorsby is visiting LSU Saturday and will be a top target.
Ole Miss quarterback Trinidad Chambliss could follow Lane Kiffin to LSU but faces an uphill climb to winning an extra year of eligibility. LouisianaSports.net has learned Chambliss is not likely to win his appeal with the NCAA. Chambliss has hired attorney Tom Mars to represent him against the NCAA in an effort to gain a sixth year of eligibility.
The transfer portal is open from Jan. 2-16.
