No one would be particularly surprised if the New Orleans Saints chose to go into the 2026 season with wide receivers Chris Olave and Devaughn Vele along with a young rookie as the trio atop the position room.
Olave just capped off a season of career highs with a Second Team All-Pro nod and Vele proved to be promising as a reliable and consistent option for rookie quarterback Tyler Shough.
But after another disappointing playoff exit, the Green Bay Packers could be on the verge of major changes. Should those changes come to fruition, another top wide receiver option may make it to the open market and become a strong option for consideration by New Orleans.
After a season of career-high receiving yards production, Packers wide receiver Romeo Doubs closed out his postseason run with another impressive evening.

Doubs finished the game with eight catches on 11 targets for 124 receiving yards and a touchdown catch. He also had a heads up play recovering a fumble by fellow receiver Christian Watson in the endzone.
With questions now swirling about the future of head coach Matt LaFleur in Green Bay, Doubs might become more willing to test the free agency market as the new league year begins. The Packers blew numerous leads throughout the regular season before dropping an 18-point lead against the Chicago Bears in the Wild Card round of the playoffs.

Should Doubs become available, he should be a top option for New Orleans in free agency, should they decide to pursue one on the market. Doubs was listed among free agents that would be a fit for New Orleans.
He isn’t a bigger wideout, standing at 6-foot-2 and weighing in at 204 pounds, but he plays big and has reliable hands. He charted a 5.2% drop rate in 2025, one of the lowest among qualifying receivers, per Pro Football Focus. He also reeled in 55 receptions for 724 receiving yards and six touchdown catches during the regular season.
Having three strong wideouts would be a game-changing benefit for New Orleans. If they decide to pursue the market for that third option, Doubs should be near or at the top of their list if available.
