Shough started nine games for the Saints his rookie year, leading the team to a 5-4 record in the process. He accumulated the most wins by any rookie quarterback in the 2025 class, which was also a rookie franchise record in New Orleans.
He finished 221/327 for 2,384 passing yards, 10 passing touchdowns and six interceptions. His 67.6 completion percentage was the third-highest recorded among qualifying rookie quarterbacks all time.
Shough led three game-winning drives, showing his value as a clutch leader and proved excellent in situational football moments and when attacking downfield.
Additional finalists for the award included betting favorite and Carolina Panthers wide receiver Tetairoa McMillan, New York Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart, Tampa Bay Buccaneers wideout Emeka Egbuka and New England Patriots running back TreVeyon Henderson.
