There have been numerous examples of the New Orleans Saints’ appreciation for Ohio State Buckeyes. From draft picks like cornerback Marshon Lattimore and wide receivers Michael Thomas and Chris Olave to free agency signings such as wideout Ted Ginn Jr., defensive end Chase Young and several others.
The pipeline that runs from Ohio State to New Orleans is well-documented and could be further reinforced in this year’s NFL Draft.

This year’s Buckeyes class is set to dominate the top-10 selections on the first day of the draft. Impactful defenders Caleb Downs, Arvell “Vell” Reese and Sonny Styles along with wide receiver Carnell Tate all have a chance to be selected early in this year’s class.
Meanwhile, defensive end Caden Curry and cornerback David Igbinosum are among the mid to late-round picks that could also find a way to New Orleans.
With the Saints sending a large contingent of their staff for Ohio State’s Pro Day and the reportedly heavily populated dinner the team hosted, it wouldn’t be a stretch to assume that any one or more of the college prospects could start their NFL careers in New Orleans.

Tate, Reese, Curry and Downs all fit key needs that remain for New Orleans as it heads into the selection process. Meanwhile any number of additional Buckeyes could have an undeniable impact on the team from starting and depth perspectives.
Going the Ohio State route has rarely not panned out for New Orleans. This year is setting up to be another potential swing from the elite college football program.
