STARKVILLE, Miss. — Casan Evans was in Friday’s lineup.
He was scratched before he ever threw a warmup pitch.
“He had some discomfort with his arm,” said LSU head coach Jay Johnson. “He did not throw. Just literally like stretching and warming up. Obviously, I’m not going to mess that up.”
Evans has toed the rubber in every game one for the Tigers this season. Minutes before the game was scheduled to start, the decision was made to go with Gavin Guidry. Evans is the second Tiger starter to miss time with an arm issue. Cooper Moore has been sidelined since week two of SEC play and will miss the remainder of the season.
Johnson stopped short of giving a timeframe on his ace and didn’t rule him out for the weekend.
“I don’t know,” Johnson said. “He just didn’t feel good. He did not throw the ball one time. They went through the whole thing, the scouting meeting. He was doing his warmup thing. And then he said he just didn’t feel good. That’s it. That’s all I know.
“I’m not going to mess with that, obviously, with a prospect like that, even as important to our team as he is.”
