The post-draft roster shuffling has begun for the New Orleans Saints, particularly at the wide receiver position. New Orleans drafted three wideouts in this year’s draft class, the most since the franchise’s 1989 draft.
With so many new wideouts added, it was only a matter of time before incumbent names began to trickle across the transaction wire. The first: wide receiver Samori Toure.
Per NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo, the Saints are releasing Toure, who will become a free agent and get a chance to pursue his next NFL opportunity.
Toure joined the Saints late last year when the position group was hit hard by injury. He appeared in one game, catching a single pass for three yards.
Toure’s name would be one to watch if he remains on the open market and the Saints experience injuries at the position again. But for now, after adding wide receivers Jordyn Tyson, Bryce Lance and Barion Brown in the draft, the 2022 seventh-rounder is the first odd man out.
New Orleans appears to remain one player over the 90-man roster limit. Meaning another transaction could soon be on the way.
