After being held off the active roster over the weekend, William Schmidt will start for LSU on Tuesday night at the SEC Tournament.
The sophomore right-hander will be tasked with trying to extend the Tigers’ season in a single-elimination format. On the season, Schmidt is 5-4 with a 4.22 ERA. He faced the Sooners back in March and allowed one run on six hits in four innings. He struck out seven in a 4-3 Oklahoma win.
The rest of LSU’s pitching should be ready to go after having Sunday and Monday off. Zac Cowan did throw 60 pitchers on Saturday, but with the season on the line, he’s likely available if necessary.
Oklahoma is starting junior southpaw Gavyn Jones. He recorded two outs against LSU at Alex Box Stadium. Jones only has one start on the season and has pitched 20.1 innings with an ERA of 6.12.
First pitch is set for 8:00. The winner will take on Auburn Wednesday night. The loser will go home.
