Report: Saints to host Texas AandM DT Shemar Turner on top-30 visit

Another top-30 visit is on the way for the New Orleans Saints. This time, the team will host a player that could help bolster its defensive line.
Per Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football, the Saints are hosting Texas A&M defensive tackle Shemar Turner on a visit.

Turner’s stock has hovered anywhere within the first two days since college football’s preseason but looks to be settling in day two. He’s an energetic and versatile player that will be dinged for his size, but has the hand-fighting ability and motor to make plays at the next level.

Size, Production, and Fit

New Orleans continues to focus on its trenches with a visit like this. Which, makes sense. The team is shifting its defensive scheme while key players approach contract years, making it crucial to build both depth and future options on the defensive line.
The 6-foot-3, 290 pounder had just two sacks last year, but six in 2023, along with 11 tackles for a loss.

Texas A&M Has Ample DL Talent

A&M has two other highly-touted defensive linemen in this year’s draft alongside Turner. Defensive ends Shemar Stewart and Nic Scourton have each gotten first-round buzz and are likely to be off the board within the first three rounds like Turner.
