Saints WR Marquez Valdes-Scantling signs with Seahawks

NEW ORLEANS — A 2024 season hero is on his way to the Pacific Northwest. New Orleans Saints wide receiver Marquez Valdes-Scantling is reuniting with his former Saints offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak in free agency.
Per NFL Media’s Tom Pelissero, the speedy wideout has agreed to a one-year deal with the Seattle Seahawks.
The deal is set to be worth up to $5.5 million.
The Saints wanted to keep the playmaking wide receiver. He caught four touchdowns on 19 receptions last season. However, his price tag was likely too high for his role alongside Chris Olave and Rashid Shaheed.
Valdez-Scantling was a late-season revelation for the Saints and Kubiak in 2024, allowing the team to maintain its vertical passing threat despite the numerous injuries suffered on that side of the ball.
The pass-catchers’ departure furthers the expectation that the Saints will look to invest in the wide receiver room this offseason, whether in free agency or through the draft.
