BATON ROUGE, La. – LSU women’s basketball head coach Kim Mulkey confirmed her team is at full strength heading into the NCAA Tournament during an interview Tuesday on Off the Bench with Jacob Hester and T-Bob Hebert on 104.5 ESPN.
Mulkey expressed excitement over having her roster fully available, noting that forward Aneesah Morrow and guard Flau’jae Johnson had returned to practice.
“Absolutely, absolutely,” Mulkey said when asked if her squad would be healthy for their opening-round matchup against San Diego State. “They were not what I would call injured—there’s a difference between being hurt and being injured. They were hurting, and they were fighting through it. They’ve been doing what they need to do to not have any more aches and pains.”
LSU, a No. 3 seed, will begin its NCAA Tournament run on Saturday night in Baton Rouge, where Mulkey is urging fans to pack the PMAC. She has pledged to cover student tickets to ensure a strong home-court atmosphere.
“Don’t take these first and second-round games for granted,” she said. “This is what you hired us to do—to bring this program back to respectability.”
