Former high school kicker makes $500K
A chemical engineering major stole the show. That’s probably nothing new on Vanderbilt’s campus, but it was for College Gameday. The weekly kicking segment in the third hour of the show has quickly become a fan favorite. Pat McAfee has handed out millions of dollars to students in the weekly contest.
This week it was Tyler Hwang’s turn, and the former soccer player absolutely drilled a 33 yarder. Come to find out, he was also a former football kicker in high school. After Hwang made the field goal, not only did he collect half a million dollars, Clark Lea notified the College Gameday set to get his information and bring him out for a tryout.
That might’ve been good from 45 at least.

Nick Saban jumps on the Vandy bandwagon
Nick Saban is famous for a lot of things. Apologies and fandom aren’t one of them. Last year he struck a nerve with some Vanderbilt fans with a quote during the week of the Alabama game saying, “every place in the SEC is tough to play, except Vandy.”
After Vanderbilt’s historic win over No. 1 Alabama, they flashed the quote on the jumbotron as soon as the clock hit zero.

This week Saban had a chance to face the fans in Nashville. He took the opportunity to formally announce he was on the bandwagon. He even went so far as to put on the Vandy Pimp outfit from Josh Snead of SEC Shorts.

Steve Sarkisian to the NFL?
Few people have been busier the last few weeks than super agent Jimmy Sexton. During the broadcast, it was reported that Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian would be interested in potentially leaving for the NFL.
Sarkisian hasn’t commented on that, and most likely won’t until after Texas plays Mississippi State this Saturday. The news still came as a shock to most considering Sarkisian has taken Texas to the College Football Playoff semifinals two years in a row. It will definitely be something to monitor, especially if things go sideways in Starkville later today.
