Another defensive end is on the way to the Crescent City following a trade that netted the New Orleans Saints Tyree Wilson during the third day of the draft.
Per Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football, the Saints are signing former New England Patriots linebacker Anfernee Jennings. The former Alabama Crimson Tide defender carries the “linebacker” designation, but played on the defensive line for the majority of his time in New England as an outside linebacker specifically.
Jennings finished the 2025 season with a pair of sacks, seven hits on the quarterback, 26 tackles, five tackles for a loss and a fumble recovery. He appeared in 14 games last year, starting three. His role changed with the Patriots’ new defensive approach. In the previous seasons he started 14 and 16 games in 2023 and 2024 respectively.
The 6-foot-3, 255-pound defender joins the Saints’ EDGE room which is led by veterans Chase Young and Carl Granderson, but is looking for more impact from rotational players.
Jennings’s run-stopping potential is a well-known hallmark of his game, an element that could get him on the field quickly should his first offseason in New Orleans go well.
