The New Orleans Saints announced Wednesday that the team has finalized its preseason schedule. The three-game exhibition series will include two games on the road and a home game, with the game in New Orleans as the opening matchup.
New Orleans will see some familiar opponents, likely to lead to some collaborative practice efforts ahead of time.
- Saturday, Aug. 15 – vs. Jacksonville Jaguars (3:00 p.m. CT-FOX)
- Saturday, Aug. 22 – at Los Angeles Rams (3:00 p.m. CT-FOX)
- Friday, Aug. 28 – at Dallas Cowboys (7:00 p.m. CT-FOX)
With the Saints hitting the road to take on the familiar preseason foe Rams, it’s likely that joint practices will precede the matchup on the West Coast.
Head coach Kellen Moore also expressed an interest in holding joint practices with multiple teams this offseason. With the Jaguars coming to New Orleans to open the exhibition games, they seem like a likely candidate. Though practices with the Cowboys don’t feel like a stretch.
Moore formerly held the Cowboys’ offensive coordinator position and surely still holds a relationship with the team’s decision-makers.
The preseason schedule offers opportunities for the Saints to get out of the heat of New Orleans for a short time, add joint practices and have an extra long break before Week 1, with the final game taking place on a Friday.
News on joint practices is likely to trickle out over the coming weeks with the team’s training camp schedule expected in late-June.
