Summer Baseball Update: July 3

Notre Dame Athletics

There is not too much to report from summer action this week.

Reagan Ricken was touched up in what might be his final outing on The Cape. He allowed six runs on six hits in two innings.

I do like the fact that four of LSU’s projected starting nine are playing on Cape Cod, and that number doesn’t count Cade Arrambide or Omar Serna who are probably LSU’s most talented players. That’s a league built on high level talent, and LSU’s entire offense might be good enough to play there.

CAPE COD LEAGUE

Reagan Ricken (Falmouth Commodores) 8 IP, 13 H, 10 R, 9 ER, 4 BB, 8 K

Dawson Park (Cotuit Kettleers) 8-for-30 (.267), 3 2B, 4 RBI, 6 BB, 7 K, 3 SB

Santiago Garcia (Brewster Whitecaps) 11.1 IP, 9 H, 7 R, 4 ER, 7 BB, 8 K, 3.18 ERA

Bino Watters (Chatham Anglers) 13-for-47 (.277), 2 2B, HR, 8 RBI, 8 BB, 12 K, 4 SB

Gavin Guidry (Chatham Anglers) 15 IP, 12 H, 9 R, 8 ER, 6 BB, 19 K, 3 HR

Jason Wachs (Wareham Gatemen) 11-for-48 (.229), 3 2B, 3 RBI, 3 SB, 15 K, 5 BB

Cade Kurland (Harwich Mariners) 9-for-35 (.257), 2 2B, HR, 2 BB, 7 K, 4 SB

PACIFIC EMPIRE LEAGUE

William Patrick (Healdsburg Prune Packers) 8-for-24 (.333), 6 BB, 6 K, 7 RBI, .452 OBP, 2B

Jack Ruckert (Healdsburg Prune Packers) 14-for-47 (.298), 16 BB, 7 K, .517 OBP, 4 2B, HR

Gavin Guidry struck out 11 in 4.2 innings this week in his start. Hopefully that was good enough to grab the eye of some scouts. He’s punched out 19 in three starts. There’s just a lot of production in the non-strikeouts.

I like the fact that Parks, Watters, Kurland and Wachs all have multiple stolen bases. That’s more evidence that LSU is upgrading the athleticism in this portal class.

Jack Ruckert homered this week and has kept his batting average around .300. He’s been on base at a .485 clip while playing second base and shortstop.

William Patrick’s numbers have bot changed over the last two weeks.
