When the New Orleans Saints hit the field for their 2026 training camp practices, all eyes will be on head coach Kellen Moore and his offense.
After an impressive showing in his first year, particularly down the closing stretch of the season, expectations are high for what’s next. After all, he has his quarterback, the offensive line has been reinforced and a number of exciting weapons have been added via the draft and free agency with incumbent players expected to make a leap, with a year to build familiarity in the books.
From a continued emphasis on motion and balance and likely additions of more under-center runs and multi-tight end sets, Moore’s offense is likely to look a lot different in 2026.
As the offense reinvents itself with quarterback Tyler Shough at the helm, running back Travis Etienne Jr. in the backfield and a high-flying tandem of Chris Olave and Jordyn Tyson at wide receiver, Moore has a generous helping of weapons around which to build.
The first glance at that reconstruction will take place at the team facility once camp opens.
Changes to the practice schedule, workload and intensity will all be notable as well, as changes could take place with the offensive system already installed for the majority of the players and all of the coaches. With all of the groundwork laid, ornamentation and execution will be able to be the focus.
Expect the Saints to lean more towards unscripted opportunities, like last year’s exciting 126-play scrimmage, after getting all of the new faces up to speed. The team is looking for chances to challenge its roster and fully evaluate what it can do once introduced to real-game situations.
With a year of foundation in the books, the next steps for Moore and his offense are equal parts exciting and daunting.
