The Southeastern Conference will hold a meeting Thursday to vote on the expulsion of LSU from the league.
According to the SEC’s bylaws, a vote of two-thirds of its membership is required to remove a member. That would be 11 of 16 schools.
The lawsuit stems from LSU’s attempt to bring tight end Dae’quan Wright and defensive tackle Zxavian Harris in after both signed contracts with NFL teams. Neither was added to the roster last week.
Wright has practiced with the team and is enrolled in school. Harris attended court last week in Baton Rouge and is reportedly enrolled in school.
The SEC accused LSU of a lack of institutional control and cited Kiffin’s halftime comments about “pro players” to ESPN’s Holly Rowe as another example.
ESPN’s Pete Thamel is reporting that expulsion is “not expected”, but the SEC has made it clear that it does have the right.
