There were some big names whose availability was in question for Week 2’s New Orleans Saints and Baltimore Ravens matchup.
For the Saints, some good news has poured in over the 24 hours before the game, while the Ravens have received a mixed bag.
Here are updates on who is in and who is out for this Baltimore showdown.
New Orleans Saints
IN: WR Chris Olave
After being added to the injury report Thursday with a hamstring injury, the words immediately used to describe the situation around wideout Chris Olave were cartoons of “optimism”. The expectation coming out of Friday’s practice was that he would be fine to take the field in Baltimore. Those expectations ring true game day morning as Olave is expected to play against the Raven.
IN: EDGE Chase Young
Also added to the injury report on Thursday, but with a calf injury, there appeared to be a sense of optimism around edge rusher Chase Young as well. Like Olave, he’s expected to be good to go despite his questionable designation on the final injury report. Young could have an interesting matchup ahead as Ravens tackle Ronnie Stanley is questionable with a toe injury.
QUESTIONABLE: DL Christen Miller
One Saints player is truly questionable in rookie defensive lineman Christen Miller. The second-round draft selection popped up on the injury report Friday with a toe injury. His status may not be known until the inactive list is released before the game.
Baltimore Ravens
OUT: WR Zay Flowers
The Ravens’ most dynamic wide receiver threat, Zay Flowers, was doubtful heading into the game with a hamstring injury. On Saturday, he was downgraded and will be out which is a big loss for Baltimore. Flowers had 150 receiving yards last week against the Indianapolis Colts despite leaving the game with just under six minutes left to go in the second quarter.
IN: EDGE Trey Hendrickson
There was no way anyone was willing to believe that a finger injury would keep the Ravens top edge rusher Trey Hendrickson off of the field against one of his former teams. He is expected to face the Saints, matching up often with second-year tackle Kelvin Banks Jr. who managed well in his big-ticket draw of Detroit Lions edge rusher Aidan Hutchinson last weekend.
This is good news for the Ravens, who are already without defensive tackle Nnamdi Madubuike because of a neck injury.
QUESTIONABLE: OL Ronnie Stanley
Along with guard John Simpson (groin), top tackle Ronnie Stanley is also questionable for the Ravens. Stanley is navigating a toe injury that could jeopardize his availability against the Saints. His availability will be another that may not come to light until the inactive list is announced 90 minutes before kickoff.
