LSU junior tight end Trey’Dez Green will miss some time, but avoided torn ligaments on Saturday night.
His mother, Laketrackey Green, posted an update on Facebook Sunday afternoon.
“MRI showed nothing is torn, tho he has some bad sprains and bruises. No surgery needed,” she wrote.
Green left Saturday’s game at Ole Miss with the help of the medical staff. He went back to the locker room for examination on his knee and returned to the LSU sideline on crutches.
Through three games, Green’s 222 receiving yards leads the team. Zach Grace and Malachi Thomas handled the tight end duties in his absence.
LSU cannot replace Green’s combination of size, speed and athleticism at the position, but it appears the worst fears have been relieved for now.
Lane Kiffin met with the media on Sunday and declined to give much of an update. He confirmed Green is still on crutches.
“It’s not ideal,” Kiffin said.
