One of the top players in America for 2028 is committed to LSU.
Jesse Covington, a Greensboro, N.C., native with loud tools pledged to Jay Johnson’s program. Just a junior in high school, Covington is already 6-foot-3 and 175 pounds. He can play the infield and the outfield, and he pitches at the prep level where he features as 93 mph fastball.
In addition to his slick glove and polished bat, Covington projects as an elite runner.
When the time comes, Covington will likely be a significant draft risk, but Johnson welcomes those types of talents in his signing classes. Back during the summer, LSU managed to get elite talent through the MLB Draft.
