The New Orleans Saints have announced their Saturday roster moves ahead of their Week 3 matchup with the Las Vegas Raiders.
The Saints kept things simple this week, elevating two players as standard elevations for the game.
New Orleans announced that it has elevated wide receivers Kevin Austin Jr. and Jalen Cropper.
With rookie receiver Barion Brown out with a hamstring injury, elevating wide wideouts was expected. Cropper brings another option at kick or point returner alongside cornerback Jayden Price.
This is Austin’s final standard elevation of the season. New Orleans can keep him in the practice squad, but if the team wants to get him back in the field at any point, he’ll have to be added to the active roster.
For next week, the Saints could again lean on Cropper if they need another wideout for game day, but it’s worth noting that veteran receiver Cedric Tillman returned to practice this week and could also be an option moving forward.
Additionally, the practice window for rookie Jordyn Tyson is eligible to be opened after the team’s Week 4 Domecoming anniversary matchup with the Atlanta Falcons.
The elevation timelines are panning out to give Tyson time to practice before officially returning to action.
For Week 3, New Orleans is set to have five active wideouts, Chris Olave, Devaughn Vele, Bryce Lance, Austin and Cropper.
The Saints have five active wideouts as well as four options each at both tight end and running back.
Last week, that equation led to running back Kendre Miller being a surprise healthy scratch, it will be intriguing to see if he or another player draws the same short straw in Week 3.
