It’s here. One of the biggest Saturdays of the season has arrived, with six Top 25 matchups on the slate, including five in the SEC. Here’s what to know and what to watch for Saturday, Sept. 26.
Kewan Lacy likely out
There wasn’t a ton of injury news on the final injury report for any SEC games this weekend.
The biggest news was Ole Miss running back Kewan Lacy being listed as likely out for the Rebels’ game against Florida. Ole Miss brings their No. 4 ranking to Gainesville in a massive matchup against the Gators.
Lacy has battled injuries all season, while the running backs behind him have struggled to produce. Lacy has accounted for 39 carries, 191 yards and four touchdowns through three games.
The other backs on the roster have combined for just 21 carries and 86 yards with zero touchdowns behind him. They’ll need a big day out of Trinidad Chambliss and the backups.
A few trends
The Auburn-Vanderbilt line got up to double digits and is currently at Auburn -10. That’s interesting considering Vanderbilt is 12-3 against the spread as an underdog under Clark Lea.
The Texas-Tennessee game dropped all the way down to Texas -3.5, but has ballooned back up to 5.5 as of Saturday morning with sharp money going on the Longhorns.
The Ole Miss-Florida line has held strong at -3.5 in favor of Florida. That seems odd since Ole Miss is ranked in the top five and Florida is ranked outside of the top 20.
This is only the fifth time in the last 48 years that a team ranked outside the top 20 is favored over a top five team. A whopping 79% of the public bets are on Ole Miss despite the lower ranked team covering the spread and winning outright in all four previous instances.
