The New Orleans Saints dropped to 1-3 after an embarrassing 45-24 loss to the division rival Atlanta Falcons.
The Saints planned to commemorate the 20th anniversary of their 2006 return to the Superdome following Hurricane Katrina, but the game left little to celebrate.
Here are some of the numbers that help tell the story of what was a hapless night in New Orleans.
Minus-0.37 – The Saints run game was again ineffective outside of the red zone, especially as the score got out of hand. The Saints also struggled to commit to the rushing attack. When they did run, they averaged minus-0.37 yards before contact per carry. That means Falcons defenders often contacted Saints rushers more than a third of a yard behind the line of scrimmage.
2.6 – New Orleans averaged just 2.6 rushing yards per carry on Monday night.
4 – The Saints generated no pressures on plays in which the defense rushed four or fewer pass rushers. All told, the Saints created just three pressures on defense.
6 – The Falcons scored six total touchdowns against the Saints’ defense including a franchise-record tying five rushing scores.
16 – Kellen Moore led in his 21st career game as the Saints’ head coach but was the 16th in which the team has trailed by double digits, the most by any coach since 2025.
18 – Falcons running back Bijan Robinson forced 18 missed tackles against the Saints defense, per Next Gen Stats.
49 – Quarterback Tyler Shough was pressured on 49% of his dropbacks. He still completed 13 of his 22 passing attempts under pressure for 146 passing yards and one touchdown throw to wide receiver Devaughn Vele.
145 – Robinson ran for 145 rushing yards against the Saints’ defense.
2024 – Saints running back Alvin Kamara secured his first multi-touchdown game since 2024, the team’s Week 2 drumming of the Dallas Cowboys that year.
